Library Guide for International Students
Welcome to Yamaguchi City!
Yamaguchi City Central Library provides helpful materials for your new life in Yamaguchi.
We collect various foreign (mainly in English) and bilingual books which will help you to acquire new knowledge about Japan: Japanese home cooking recipes, recent Japanese novels in English, custom in Japan, Japanese traditional culture and so on.
You may use Online Catalogue (OPAC) to look up our materials.
We hope that new knowledge from these books will help you have better communication with Japanese students and the locals.
In addition, the library provides a newspaper and magazines that are written in English as below:

“ELLE DECORATION”, “NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC” AND “Reader’s Digest” “Hiragana Times”(Bilingual)
If you would like to get the latest information, you can bring your laptop and connect it to the Internet through a wireless LAN for free in the library. To use the wireless LAN, you need to fill in an application form and show your ID at the Reference counter. Please be sure to bring something to identify yourself. For your information, you can substitute your library card for ID if you have already got one.
Here is the library card information. Anyone who lives, works, attends school or studies at university in Yamaguchi City is eligible to make the Yamaguchi City Central Library card free of charge. Please fill out a registration form and show something to certify that you live or study at university in Yamaguchi City (e.g. a residence card, a student card) at the Service counter. For details, please ask the staff at the Service counter in the library.
Regardless of whether or not you have the card, you are welcome to use our materials in the library. However, if you get the card, you can borrow up to 10 books, 5 magazines, and 3 items from CDs, Videos and DVDs for 2 weeks. We hope that our materials will help you have a wonderful experience in Yamaguchi.
